BIBLE 003 (some blackfoot notes)

ok, i lied. instead of getting into bed, I wanted to write notes from Blackfoot before I get too busy to do so during the school year.

HEALING

In John 9, Jesus heals the blindman.

[1] And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
[2] And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
[3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
[4] I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
[6] When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
[7] And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

The begger did not resist Jesus. He yielded his heart.

In the 16th verse, the pharisees rebuked Jesus for not keeping the sabbath day. He was chastised and called a sinner.

[16] Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day.

The pharisees rebuked the blind man and called him a sinner as well. They were "men of Moses" and not of Christ. The pharisees looked down upon any man that followed Christ.

[25] [The blindman] answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

THE WORD OF GOD IS TRIED AND PROVED TRUE

David tried the word of God. He writes in Psalm 18, 30:

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

We know David is a man that experienced victory when he obeyed God and experienced defeat when he did not.

When we try the word of God, we discover what David experienced. We experience victory in obedience and defeat in disobedience.

In Malachi 3, 10, God gives instructions for tithing under the levitical priesthood. He instructs the listener to do all that He asks and they will be rewarded in return.

When we are willing to yield our all to God, he rewards us so we can take further steps in His way.

It is counterintuitive in this world to give up everything we have and yield it towards something/someone else and receive more in return, but this is what happens when we yield our all to God. The more of ourselves we give up and yield to Him, the more joy we receive in return.

THE CHOSEN BRIDE

In Genesis 24, we read of the chosen bride.

In the 14th verse, the Lord tells Abraham's servant that he will know Abraham's chosen bride when he searches for her on behalf of Abraham. The Lord informed him that he will know who she is when she offers him water and water for his camels as well.

As Abraham's servant drew into the city to search from Abraham's bride, a fair virgin, Rebekah, carrying a pitcher of water, offered him and his camels water.

Rebekah was a water bearer. She kept true in her daily duties. If she had not been there that day, she would have not been a useful part in God's kingdom.

We often do not know what God requires of us. His will may sometimes require things that may seem minute to us such as keeping true to our daily duties such as Rebekah did. We always need to be ready to do God's will no matter how much or little that requires of us.

It is said that Rebekah was pure and a virgin.

In a natural sense, we cannot marry if we are not pure in our mate's eyes. In a spiritual sense, we can not be wed with the "bridge groom of our souls" unless we are cleansed by the blood of Christ.

It is said that Rebekah was born into the right family.

When we are born again in Christ (John 3), we are born into a new family. It is often then when we find that our desires are altered and we seek to be a part of God's family. We "love what God loves and hate what He hates." Our desires are aligned with His.

Most of all, Rebekah was willing to leave everything she had to take her new position as Abraham's chosen bride. She was willing to "leave all to have all." When we are willing to do God's will and leave our sin and serve God instead of ourselves, we are filled with abundant riches.

I will continue this in a new entry later.

2 Corinthians 2, 7-8:

...Contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
